Cake & drinks in the garden with Paul. Many of you probably would recognise Paul if you saw him in his high viz padded Retail Birmingham's Officer uniform. Originally from Dunstable, Luton, for years he was one of Disorder's heroes...when Retail Birmingham brought Paul to patrol the city centre, so many things on the ground changed for the better. He is one of those people that goes beyond the call of duty and puts his heart & soul into his job, always ready to help, diffuse situations and protect the public and safe guard the vulnerable; Paul is that relentless positive force, a beacon of light that every big city needs. If only we had a magic wand, we would make him Mayor of Birmingham.
Thank you so much for everything Paul. 💙💙💙

A tribute to Patti:
Patti Bell's range from Disorder Ltd circa 2006 photoshoot for 69 Magazine by the talented Paul Ward, masterfully styled by Chris Ward. Very cool designer anarchic vibe, we were her only stockist in the world, not because she didn't have enough wholesale buyers interested of course, it was just because she was very particular with who she did business with 💗.
RIP Patti.🖤

Patti was an inspirational lady and a unique fashion designer. I heard about her iconic store in the 80s when Duran Duran, Ozzy & the likes of Boy George used to shop in her store in Birmingham. So, I was thrilled when she accepted the offer to stock her punky creations in our shop sometime in the 2003s. We did business with her for years and she was always so humble and just a really kind hearted person to work with. She kept doing her own thing her own way...even when she had issues with her walking, she would still get herself down to Camden by train every weekend to trade from the Electric Ballroom.
We used to go down to Camden every month ourselves for business and over time grew close to some of our very talented alternative Camden suppliers there.
With Patti, we had a strange parallel connection in terms of influences & experiences in a fashion sense.
Over the last couple of months, for some reason, I kept looking at a top of hers that she made years ago, that of an angel amongest roses adorned with sparkles & I wondered how Patti was doing. I then saw the news of her passing. 💔
Such a special lady. Brum should make a statue of her.It seems fitting to be celebrating the remarkable life of Patti Bell on International Women's Day.

Family & friends said their farewells yesterday in Birmingham, and people all over the world sent tributes and posted stories on social media about how she impacted their lives.

Recognised globally as one of the innovators of the Punk and New Romantic scenes, Patti was a creative, strong and groundbreaking woman - we also knew her as a warm and friendly regular at our weekly Blues Club and a passionate supporter of the Birmingham music scene.

RIP Patti, and happy International Women's Day to all the brave and wonderful women out there - "the fight for freedom from gendered oppression is not complete without the liberation of all women and oppressed people across the world." x

Friday we had long standing customer techno dj Neil Ormonde with his Mrs. the lovely Sal & their very friendly Baby Elodie who was sooo cute 👶 😍 she seemed to feel quite at home at the HQ. Neil was saying he always sees people wearing Disorder out & about & that they always knod at each other, (like a secret hand shake 😁). Great to hear Neil will be deejaying in Germany with a big hero of his Regis.
Then we had Jo, come to pick up his bespoke wax coat, trousers, shirt, long sleeve top and cap. The guitarist is 🎸 looking forward to perform in his new Disorder outfit, his performing name is Jenaro so guys if you see him do give him a massive knod!! 😉
Next we have physicist Ben back from his Antarctica travels, who led us astray with more port. He said the Disorder wool coat kept him surprisingly warm while admiring the icebergs & the orcas 🥶. Ben & our son have chocohology in common & always have a discussion on Huxley's latest experiment findings 🍫...
I've also sneaked in photos, (xx), of stunning beadwork jewellery designer Sam Hemming who used to stock her range in Disorder years ago and London Guildhall musician & composer the highly talented Oliwia Radomska. We went to an all nighter at House of God & it was fun to look at Mark's artwork on little sleep the following day 🤪.
Then we have glamorous business owner Nicky and her son & daughter. Our youngest customer is now officially 11 year old William, whom we are doing a bespoke jacket for an upcoming wedding. It's been a joy making outfits for Nicky & her super children.
Finally, we had Paul former city trader whom we ended up making 3 tops in stitu. It was like, "make a top session," as we were fitting it to Paul's shape and adding art & darts in freestyle mode. That, was a few hours well spent, we also put the world to right in between waiting for Mark's machine wizardry while sampling new sugar free snacks & having cups of tea.
Thank you all for coming & letting us take photos of your happy faces at the Disorder studio 😄🙏 ❤️ 🙌.

Disorder’s Rainbow Hand of Fatima

Disorders' new Rainbow Hand t-shirt range is inspired by the Hand of Fatima symbol. The origins of this ancient symbol can be traced long into our shared history, being used as a symbol of protection from evil spirts. Therefore, I view the symbol as universe belonging to humanity and not just to any one group exclusively. As such Disorder's Rainbow Hand of Fatima is a universal and powerful symbol of[...]

The Sarus Crane: first contact to finished image

The Sarus Crane, from first contact to finished T-shirt, the inspiration behind Disorder's new artwork. I first got the idea for a drawing, The Circle of Life, from a chance meeting with a Sarus Crane.  It was During a ten hour drive from Yangon to the coast, in the Delta region of Myanmar, that we first came across the majestic Sarus Crane. The worlds tallest bird, at 1.8 meters[...]

Silent-Assassin: Etymology of Assassin

Silent-Assassin: Etymology of Assassin, I have always been fascinated by the history of words, the etymology. Words such as Assassin, we use and come across in everyday life, without much thought of where they're come from. When you look into their roots words become spotlights into our shared human history and highlight our cultural links with one another. While I was sketching the Silent Assassin drawing, I came across the[...]

Amazon Rainforest

Amazon Rainforest The Amazon Rainforest is quite literally  the lungs of the earth and is the subject of a new range of ethical apparel from Disorder. In particular, we wanted to focus on the symbiotic relationship between the indigenous people of the rainforest and their environment. The project started during lockdown 2021, over the long dark winter months, we started to work on some ideas. With the backdrop of a[...]

Bruce Lee, “Be like water”

Bruce Lee “Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle.[...]

This interest[...]

BREXIT AND SLOWING DOWN FAST FASHION

IMG_8785BREXIT AND SLOWING DOWN FAST FASHION In light of Brexit,  I have chosen to revisit a blog post I wrote a few years ago, April 16th 2012 to be exact. Believe me things havn't improved a great deal.....as a country, our balance of payment is still growing the wrong way, but the growth of the slow fashion movement is showing green shoots. But if we had all listened back then[...]
